The former Jab\u0142onna\u2013Karczew narrow-gauge railway station located here is a real treat for transport enthusiasts and those with a penchant for nostalgia, whilst Warsaw Wawer railway station is an excellent starting point for further exploration of the capital. <\/p>\n<p>Whilst strolling through Wawer, it is worth stopping by the cemetery and the monument commemorating the tragic first mass execution of 27 December 1939, which serve as a reminder of this place\u2019s turbulent history. Nearby is the Wawer Inn, now known as the Napoleonic Inn, where you can sample traditional dishes in an atmospheric setting. <\/p>\n<p>Another highlight on Wawer\u2019s tourist map is the monument to \u2018Those Who Fell for the Fatherland in 1831\u2019, which can be seen on P\u0142owiecka Street. History buffs will certainly also appreciate the monument to J\u00f3zef Pi\u0142sudski and the parish church of St Benedict, which lend this place a unique character.
