Pacanów is a picturesque town in southern Poland, located in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. As the seat of the Pacanów commune, it is an important service center for agriculture, and its attractive location at the intersection of national roads No. 73 and 79 makes it easily accessible to tourists.
The city gained fame thanks to the character of Matołek the Goat, the hero of Kornel Makuszyński’s books. It is here, in Pacanów, that the legends of goat shoeing were born, which attracts lovers of folklore and fairy tales. Every year, the nationwide “Children’s Culture Festival” takes place here, which attracts families from all over Poland.
It is also worth visiting the Church of St. Martin, which impresses with its architecture and history. As a sanctuary of the Dying Jesus, it was raised to the rank of a minor basilica in 2008 by Pope Benedict XVI. Pacanów is a place where history is intertwined with culture, and local traditions create a unique atmosphere that will surely delight every tourist.
