Świdnik is a charming town situated in eastern Poland, in the Lublin Voivodeship, just 10 kilometres from Lublin. Although it is a relatively young town, having been granted town status only in 1954, it surprises visitors with its attractions and unique character. The town is known primarily for the WSK PZL Świdnik aircraft factory, which manufactures helicopters, as well as for its beautiful green spaces, including the forests that surround the town.
For nature lovers, Świdnik offers plenty of opportunities to spend time outdoors. The surrounding area features forests such as the Świdnik Forest and the Poszpitalny Forest, which are ideal for walks and outdoor activities. Another interesting spot is the grassy airfield, which has become home to a rare species – the European ground squirrel – making Świdnik an attractive destination for birdwatchers and nature lovers.
It is also worth visiting Adampol, the town’s oldest district, where you can admire wooden villas dating from the early 20th century. Although it lacks historical monuments, Świdnik has its own unique atmosphere that attracts tourists. The town’s focal point is 3 May Constitution Square, known for its war memorial and town fountain, which make for an excellent spot to relax.
Both locals and tourists can enjoy a wide range of cultural events, such as the Świdnik Jazz Festival, which attracts musicians and jazz enthusiasts from all over Poland. Świdnik is a place well worth visiting, combining modernity with a rich history and the beauty of nature.
