The Gorce Mountains are a picturesque mountain range in the Western Beskids, attracting tourists with their unique beauty and rich history. The name Gorce likely comes from the word “gorzeć,” referring to the traditional methods of clearing forests. This region, with an area of approximately 550 km², borders the Nowy Targ Basin, the Pieniny Mountains, and the Beskid Wyspowy Mountains, and its highest peak is Turbacz.

The Gorce Mountains boast numerous hiking trails, allowing visitors to discover stunning views and local flora and fauna. Hiking, cycling, and horseback riding trails, as well as educational trails, are all available. The Gorce Mountains offer a variety of activities, including ski touring, with a rich network of cross-country trails.

Thanks to moderate tourist traffic and well-preserved nature, the Gorce Mountains are an ideal place for a peaceful and quiet holiday. It’s worth visiting mountain huts, such as the PTTK shelter on Turbacz, which serve as an excellent base for further hikes.
